Argentina Bets Big on nuclear Power Revival
Buenos Aires, Argentina – In a bold move to secure its energy future, Argentina is embarking on an ambitious plan to revive its nuclear power industry. President Javier Milei announced the initiative, highlighting the crucial role nuclear energy will play in fueling the nation’s growth, notably in the face of rising demand from artificial intelligence.
“The potential for development in artificial intelligence is so immense that conventional energy sources won’t be enough to meet this new demand,” Milei declared during the official presentation of the plan. “We are convinced that there will be a global resurgence of nuclear energy because, despite countless smear campaigns by international foundations, nuclear power is the only source efficient, abundant, and scalable enough to support the advancement of our civilization.”
Milei emphasized Argentina’s determination to lead this nuclear renaissance. “After decades of decline, nuclear energy will have its triumphant return, and we not only won’t be left behind, but we intend to be pioneers,” he stated.
To spearhead this ambitious endeavor, Milei appointed Dr. Demian Reidel, who has served as the head of his advisory council, as the architect of Argentina’s nuclear plan.
The first step in this ambitious plan is the construction of a small modular reactor (SMR) at the Atucha nuclear site.
This move signals a significant shift in argentina’s energy strategy, positioning nuclear power as a key driver of economic growth and technological advancement.
