Javier Milei is gaining support in South America. His popularity is increasing both domestically and internationally. Recent events include meetings with Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Emmanuel Macron, and Giorgia Meloni, showing his active role in global politics.
A new survey from Clarín compared the approval ratings of ten South American presidents. Milei ranks second, losing only to Luis Lacalle Pou from Uruguay. Despite challenges, Lacalle retains a strong public image.
The survey interviewed 1,019 to 1,617 people in different countries between November 15 and 19. It had a margin of error of +/- 2%.
Current Rankings of South American Presidents
- Luis Lacalle Pou (Uruguay): +51.5% approval, -45.8% disapproval. He has a slight decrease from the previous month.
- Javier Milei (Argentina): +50.2% approval, -46.7% disapproval. His rating increased from +47.7% in October.
- Lula da Silva (Brazil): +48.6% approval, -47.6% disapproval. His ratings fell slightly.
- Santiago Peña (Paraguay): +44.7% approval, -51.5% disapproval.
- Daniel Noboa (Ecuador): +42.6% approval, -55.5% disapproval.
Milei’s rise places him ahead of Lula, who experienced a drop in support.
Lowest-Ranking Presidents in South America
- Diana Boluarte (Peru): +21.3% approval, -73.3% disapproval. She is at the bottom and has seen a decline.
- Nicolás Maduro (Venezuela): +27.8% approval, -69.6% disapproval. His support also dropped.
- Luis Arce (Bolivia): +36.8% approval, -60% disapproval. He remains unpopular.
- Gabriel Boric (Chile): +39.4% approval, -59.1% disapproval. His ratings improved.
- Gustavo Petro (Colombia): +41.2% approval, -57.6% disapproval. His support has also increased.
