Jay-Z Accused of Rape in Amended Lawsuit, Denies Allegations
New York, NY – Rapper adn entrepreneur jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been named in an amended civil lawsuit accusing him and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000. The lawsuit, originally filed in october against Combs, was refiled Sunday in the Southern District of New York to include Carter.
The anonymous accuser, identified only as “Jane Doe,” alleges the assault occurred after she was driven to an MTV Video Music Awards after-party.
Carter vehemently denied the allegations in a statement to NBC News, calling them “heinous” and urging the accuser to file a criminal complaint.
“These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case,” Carter stated.
The lawsuit claims Doe was approached by a limousine driver who worked for Combs and promised her access to an after-party. After being taken to a house party, Doe alleges she was given a drink that made her feel disoriented. She then claims Combs and carter entered the room, with Combs stating, “You are ready to party!” before Carter allegedly raped her while Combs and an unnamed female celebrity watched. Doe further alleges Combs also raped her.
The lawsuit, filed under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act,seeks unspecified damages.
This is the latest in a series of lawsuits filed by texas-based attorney Tony buzbee against Combs, all of which have withheld the complainants’ names. This is the first suit in which Buzbee has named another high-profile defendant.
combs has repeatedly denied all accusations against him. He is currently detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center awaiting trial on federal racketeering, sex trafficking, and other charges. His trial is scheduled for May 5.
Prior to the lawsuit being refiled, Carter reportedly received a letter from Buzbee requesting mediation. Carter responded by filing his own lawsuit against the accuser’s attorneys, which he characterized as a “blackmail attempt” in his statement.
“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a “lawyer” named Tony Buzbee,” Carter stated. “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir,it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”
The allegations against both Combs and Carter are serious and will likely continue to generate significant public attention.
