Quenton Marselles Brown, father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, was arrested on thursday, August 21, on charges of attempted murder. The arrest stems from a stabbing that occured the previous night in a Las Vegas parking lot,as reported by NBC News.
The incident unfolded at All American Park following a dispute over a parking space and alleged damage to a vehicle – a “door ding,” according to initial reports.The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach before fleeing the scene.
Victim’s Condition and Account of Events
The victim, identified as a youth football coach, was transported to a local hospital and underwent surgery. Doctors reported he was in critical condition, having sustained stab wounds to his back, clavicle, and hands, as well as a broken rib, according to TMZ.
According to the victim’s girlfriend, Marselles Brown, 57, a former boxer, allegedly struck their vehicle while exiting his SUV. After the victim assessed the damage, Marselles reportedly made disparaging remarks and a physical altercation ensued, with the victim slapping the side mirror of Marselles’ SUV. marselles then allegedly challenged the victim to a physical confrontation.
The girlfriend told Las vegas police that Marselles then followed the victim and stabbed him in the back with an unknown object. A witness reportedly observed the assailant swinging the knife approximately 25 times at the victim.
Arrest and Prior Record
Police apprehended Marselles Brown, finding him with facial bleeding and abrasions on his knees. He reportedly spontaneously admitted the incident was over a “door ding” without prompting from officers. The weapon used in the stabbing has not yet been recovered. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities also revealed that Marselles Brown has a prior arrest record, having been arrested in Henderson, Nevada in 2016 on suspicion of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, as reported.
