Jecheon City Unveils Ambitious 2024 Budget: A 73.3 Billion Won Boost for a Brighter Future

Jecheon City’s ⁣Second Supplementary Budget for 2024: A Focus on Citizens’‌ Lives and⁣ Local Economic Growth

Jecheon City has submitted its second supplementary budget for 2024 to the city‌ council,​ with a total increase‌ of 73.3 billion won ⁣to 1.2388 trillion won. The general⁣ account has increased ​by ⁢69.8 billion ⁣won to 1.0906⁣ trillion won, while the special account has increased by 3.5 billion won to⁤ 148.2 billion won.

The expenditure budget by​ sector has seen significant increases in the following areas:

  • Industry, small and medium-sized enterprises, ‌and energy: 16.4 billion won
  • Agriculture, forestry, marine and fisheries:⁢ 14.2 ⁢billion won
  • Land and regional development: 12.4 ⁣billion ‍won

According ⁢to the city, this supplementary budget focuses on providing customized budget support‍ that ‌directly affects citizens’ lives and promoting consumption and investment projects ‌to create a ⁤self-sustaining local economic ecosystem. This move is seen as a response to the ‌local economic conditions that have‍ been struggling due to the ​domestic economic⁤ recession in the first⁣ half of the year.

Major projects that have been allocated​ funds ⁤include:

  • Urban revitalization projects such as Love Tour and City Tour: 430 million won
  • Additional issuance of Jecheon Love‌ Gift Certificates: 2.6 billion won
  • Small-scale resident-wanted projects:⁢ 4.9 billion ‍won
  • Small stream improvement projects:⁤ 8.7 billion won

In addition, the budget has allocated funds for various social welfare projects, including:

  • Tuition support for​ college students from families with many ​children: 1.2 billion won
  • Senior citizen center support project expenses: 680‍ million won
  • Construction ‍expenses for rural workforce dormitories: 2.04 billion ⁢won
  • Investment attraction‌ promotion funds:⁢ 10 ​billion won

Mayor Kim Chang-gyu of Jecheon City stated, “In the face of limited revenue ⁢resources, we have actively responded to the decline ​in domestic consumption and investment and​ focused our resources on‍ the people’s livelihood budget and future ‌investment ⁣projects that are⁢ directly related to citizens’ ‍lives. We will do our best to ensure that the​ supplementary⁢ budget provides real help⁤ to citizens through ⁢strong​ cooperation with the city council.”
