Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are celebrating their marriage in Venice, Italy, hosting what’s been dubbed the “wedding of the century.” The lavish event has drawn a who’s who of celebrities and billionaires to the romantic city.
Kim Kardashian, a close friend of Sanchez, arrived in Venice with sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner. Kardashian previously attended Sanchez’s bachelorette party in Paris. Other notable guests include Gayle King, Ivanka Trump, Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Eva Longoria. Oprah Winfrey also was seen arriving at the airport.
Approximately 200 guests are expected to gather at the Madonna dell’Orto church for the ceremony. Following the vows, a wedding banquet is planned on the island of San Giovanni Evangelista. The three-day festivity will conclude with a grand ball at the arsenale, an ancient shipyard. Original plans to use the Scuola Grande della Misericordia were changed due to security concerns.
Bezos, whose net worth is estimated at $165 billion, has taken measures to ensure privacy, including installing a cover at the Arsenale amphitheater to prevent drone photography. Guests, including the wedding party, are staying at the Aman, a luxury resort where suites cost as much as £10,000 per night.
The wedding is expected to provide a boost to the local economy, with 80% of the wedding provisions sourced from Venetian businesses. Matteo Bocelli, son of Andrea Bocelli, will provide live entertainment.
