Jeff Dickerson Says JGR Has No Evidence in IP Theft Lawsuit

Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson is demanding definitive proof in the ongoing intellectual property theft lawsuit filed by Joe Gibbs Racing, questioning why months of litigation have yielded no tangible evidence. Motorsport.com reported that Dickerson addressed the case during an appearance on the Door, Bumper, Clear podcast on Dirty Mo Media, maintaining that his team has operated entirely above board since the legal action began.

Jeff Dickerson Demands Concrete Proof from Joe Gibbs Racing

Joe Gibbs Racing initiated the lawsuit against Spire Motorsports and Chris Gabehart in February, alleging intellectual property theft and breach of contract. Dickerson pointed out that despite the severity of the initial allegations, the opposing side has failed to produce supporting facts over a span of several months. It would just be nice to see some evidence, Dickerson said during the podcast appearance with co-host and 23XI Racing spotter Freddy Kraft.

Dickerson described the toll the ongoing legal battle takes on his organization while interacting with court proceedings and public scrutiny. It feels like we’re just taking a lot of shots or a lot of bullets are coming our way, he stated, adding that it is difficult to disprove unverified claims in a court setting.

The Alliance with Hendrick Motorsports as a Defense Against Allegations

Spire Motorsports has consistently maintained that it has no need for outside proprietary data due to its technical alliance with Hendrick Motorsports. Under that agreement, Spire pays Hendrick Motorsports for setup assistance and engineering information. Dickerson emphasized that utilizing data from Joe Gibbs Racing would directly compromise that relationship and show disrespect to Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick.

Dickerson noted that Hendrick called him immediately when the lawsuit was filed to ask about the situation. I don’t want to have to go back to him and be like, ‘Oh, by the way, I know you’re like my dad. I’ve been lying to you for 10 months,’ Dickerson explained.

Trial Date Set for February 1

The legal dispute moves toward a trial scheduled to begin on February 1. Dickerson outlined his approach to the impending courtroom proceedings, noting that he anticipates accountability once the evidentiary phase concludes.

I want everybody to remember every allegation. I want everybody to remember every redaction. And then, when we get to court, I’ll come out on the steps and my five minutes of happiness is going to be when I get to go on the courthouse steps and say my shit.
