Jeff Nichols to Write Original Film Set in Arkansas
Jeff Nichols, known for films like “Take Shelter” and “Mud,” is writing a new original film. This will be his first original story since 2016’s “Midnight Special.”
After “Midnight Special,” Nichols directed “Loving” in 2016 and “The Bikeriders” in 2023. Both of these films were adaptations. Now, he plans to create a film that reflects his unique style.
Nichols is also adapting Cormac McCarthy’s novels “The Passenger” and “Stella Maris.” These stories involve siblings dealing with their father’s role in developing the atomic bomb. He stated, “I am adapting the last two Cormac McCarthy novels but then I am also writing my first original script since Midnight Special.”
Details about the new film are limited. However, it will be set in Arkansas, where Nichols grew up. He shared this information while attending the Marrakech Film Festival.
