The 2023 death of Matthew Perry, whose struggles with addiction were well-documented, deeply impacted Aniston and the Friends cast. A post-mortem examination revealed a high concentration of ketamine in his system, with “acute effects” of the drug cited as the cause of death.
Aniston acknowledged the collective efforts of the Friends stars to support Perry throughout his recovery journey. “We did everything we could when we could,” she said, referencing their consistent attempts to help him navigate his addictions.
However, she also admitted that Perry’s battle felt like a prolonged mourning process. “It almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight,” she explained.
Despite the immense sadness, Aniston expressed a sense of peace knowing perry is no longer suffering.”As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better. I’m glad he’s out of that pain.”
