Remembering Matthew Perry and His Struggles
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Aniston shared her feelings about Perry’s passing, stating, “We did everything we could when we could.” She revealed that his battle with addiction felt like a prolonged period of sorrow, even before his death.
“But it almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight,” she explained.despite the pain experienced by Perry, his friends, and fans, Aniston expressed a sense of relief. “As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better. I’m glad he’s out of that pain.”
Perry was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home in October 2023. A post-mortem report indicated he was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, but the ketamine levels found in his system were inconsistent with that treatment. The exact method of intake remains undetermined.
A woman, Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the “Ketamine Queen” by prosecutors, is facing trial in September, charged with five counts of ketamine distribution, including one count relating to perry’s death.
friends Legacy and Aniston’s gratitude
Aniston, who rose to fame playing Rachel Green on the iconic sitcom Friends, alongside Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc, reflected on the show’s lasting impact.
“What helped raise me is something I got to put into the world and help other people,” she said. “If (Friends) was the only thing on my resume, I would be very happy and blessed.” The show continues to resonate with audiences decades after its finale, solidifying its place in television history.
The Morning Show star also discussed the relentless media frenzy she endured in the 2000s, notably surrounding her marriage and subsequent divorce from Brad Pitt.
“It was such juicy reading for people. If they didn’t have their soap operas, they had their tabloids,” Aniston recalled.”It’s a shame that it had to happen, but it happened. And boy did I take it personally.”
She admitted to being deeply affected by the constant scrutiny. “I didn’t have a strong enough constitution to not get affected by it. We’re human beings, even though some people don’t want to believe we are. They think, You signed up for it, so you take it. But we really didn’t sign up for that.”
More recently, Aniston has faced concerns about her personal safety, including an incident where a man crashed his car through her home’s gate while allegedly stalking her. Although the man was deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial, the experience highlighted the vulnerability celebrities face.
“People are out of their minds. Who wants to put that energy out there,” she stated. Aniston emphasized the necessity of her security team, describing it as “not glamorous in any way. It’s a necessity.”
