Matthew Perry’s passing on October 28, 2023, was met with an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow celebrities. The autopsy report revealed that he died from the “acute effects” of ketamine and other causes, after accidentally drowning in his bathtub.

Perry had been open about his struggles with addiction, sharing his experiences in his memoir, published in 2022. He revealed that he had undergone 65 treatment sessions and spent over $9 million in his efforts to overcome his addiction.

Perry’s struggles with addiction also led to several surgeries, including a 7-hour colon surgery in 2018. He had spoken publicly about his near-death experience, saying, “I was supposed to die.”
