Jennifer Garner Praises Ben Affleck as Co-Parent Eight Years After Divorce

Jennifer Garner is calling Ben Affleck an “incredible co-parent,” citing a strengthened relationship that has granted her newfound professional flexibility as their children grow older.

A Shift in Professional Freedom

The actress told Entertainment Weekly that the dynamics of her partnership with Affleck have evolved as their children—Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel—reached high school age. For years, Garner’s career moves were dictated by her children’s needs. She rarely accepted long-term assignments unless the children could travel with her, a restriction designed to ensure she remained present in their daily lives.

That constraint has vanished. Now, the children can stay with their father while Garner travels for work.

The Mechanics of Modern Co-Parenting

Garner credited this freedom to Affleck’s role in the home.

“My kids are a little bigger. My ex-husband has become this incredible co-parent. They can stay with their dad. He’s wonderful. He takes care of them. He’s a great partner in that way. And that’s very freeing,”

she told Entertainment Weekly.

Looking back at the years she dedicated primarily to childcare, Garner described that period as a “season.” She stated she would not trade any of those years, characterizing the experience as a beautiful part of her life.
