【Financial News Mu-an = Reporter Hwang Tae-jong】Jeollanam-do announced that it will conduct a joint hygiene inspection with 22 cities and counties for five days starting September 2 to ensure the safety of food such as coffee and chicken prepared and sold at convenience stores frequently visited by residents.

This inspection will be conducted on a total of 370 establishments, focusing on those that have not been inspected in the past three years or have a history of violating the Food Sanitation Act, etc.

Key inspection items include: △whether health checkups are conducted △whether food and facility hygiene is managed △whether facility standards are followed, such as installation of waste covers △whether products past their expiration date are stored or used, etc.

In particular, cooked foods such as coffee, chicken, and fried foods sold at convenience stores are collected and tested for contamination with food poisoning bacteria.

South Jeolla Province plans to take administrative action against businesses that are found to be unfit through inspection and testing, and to re-inspect them within six months to see if there have been any improvements.

In addition, as the hot and humid weather continues, there are concerns about an increase in food poisoning, so we plan to provide guidance and publicity on the six major rules for preventing food poisoning, including washing hands, cooking before eating, boiling after eating, washing and disinfecting, separating food, and maintaining storage temperatures.

Na So-young, former director of the Food and Drug Administration of South Jeolla Province, said, “The most important thing in food is hygiene,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a food safety environment through continuous inspections of food handling facilities such as restaurants and cafes.”
