Bay Area hip-hop legend Too Short recently appeared on uproxx’s Sound Check, hosted by Jeremy Hecht, to dissect his music taste. The segment featured Too Short choosing between two versions of his 2006 hit,”Blow The Whistle”: Saweetie’s “Tap In” and Drake’s “For Free.”
Hecht challenged Too short to choose between other iconic tracks, including “Still D.R.E.” versus “The Message,” and “The Ghetto” versus “Atomic Dog.” The Sound Check format involves Hecht attempting to identify Too Short’s “life anthem”—the one song he would take to a desert island.
The music taste challenge unfolds as Hecht plays pairs of songs for the guest, who must pick one and explain their reasoning. Based on these choices, Hecht then guesses the artist’s life anthem, selected beforehand. The show also includes a decoy song to further test Hecht’s understanding of the artist’s preferences.
