A Jersey City couple faces child endangerment charges after allegedly leaving their two young children unattended in Brigantine,New Jersey. Felix Rodriquez, 43, and Lydia Monterrosa, 38, were arrested after police responded to a call regarding unattended children.
Brigantine police said a concerned citizen alerted officers to the situation around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday.The officers discovered an 8-year-old and a 1-year-old alone inside a residence on the 4900 block of Harbor Beach Boulevard. Further examination revealed that no parents or guardians were present.
Police contacted Rodriquez and Monterrosa, instructing them to return to the property. Upon their arrival, authorities said the couple exhibited signs of alcohol impairment. The parents were then taken into custody and charged with child endangerment and related offenses.
Authorities said Rodriquez and Monterrosa have been released with pending court appearances.
