Canada men’s national team head coach Jesse Marsch has added Toronto FC forward Theo Corbeanu and Minnesota United FC forward Marcus Caldeira to the squad ahead of a Tuesday friendly against the United States in St. Paul, Minnesota, as replacement call-ups for injured attackers Cyle Larin and Tajon Buchanan, Canada Soccer announced Monday.
Roster Replacements After Injuries in Montreal and Training
The roster shakeup comes after both Larin and Buchanan picked up injuries during recent international duties. Larin experienced back irritation in training after awkwardly picking up a weight prior to Canada’s match against Peru. Buchanan sustained a lower-body injury after taking a tackle from a Peruvian defender during Saturday’s game in Montreal.
Following their evaluations, Larin has already returned to his club side Southampton FC, while Buchanan has headed back to Villarreal CF for further medical assessment.
Corbeanu Returns While Caldeira Earns First Call-Up
The incoming players offer contrasting levels of international experience. Corbeanu, a 24-year-old native of Burlington, Ontario, returns to the national setup having scored two goals across seven career appearances for Canada. His last international appearance for his country came back in 2022 during a friendly against Uruguay. At the club level, Corbeanu has scored two goals in 14 matches during his second season with Toronto FC.
Caldeira arrives at the national team camp for the first time in his career, and the Minnesota United forward could be set to win his very first cap at any level for Canada.

Preparations for Tuesday Night in St. Paul
Marsch and his revised squad will take on the United States on Tuesday in St. Paul, Minnesota, concluding the current international window following Saturday’s fixture against Peru.
