Jessica Gadirova Balances Comeback, Twin’s Injury
Olympian Jessica Gadirova is preparing to return to competition at the British Championships in Liverpool, but her excitement is tempered by her twin sister jennifer’s upcoming surgery for an ACL injury. Jennifer is scheduled for surgery Wednesday, just days after Jessica’s comeback.
“To know that she is going through what I have for the last year and a half, takes a toll and hurts my heart,” Jessica gadirova said.She added, “I feel like I’m competing for her as well,” seeing her return as a presentation that recovery from such injuries is possible.
Jessica, the European all-around champion, sustained her ACL injury during the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She described her recovery as “a very long process” requiring patience to rebuild her strength and fitness.
