Jessica Lange Reprises Role in American Horror Story with Ariana Grande

Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology series American Horror Story will return for its 13th season featuring a cast that combines several franchise veterans with the addition of pop singer and actress Ariana Grande.

The casting announcement, released on October 31, 2025, confirmed that the new season will feature a wide array of returning performers. The ensemble includes Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman.

The Return of Jessica Lange

A central component of the upcoming season is the return of Jessica Lange, marking her first appearance in the franchise since her departure in 2014.

Lange was a fixture of the series’ early years, portraying four distinct lead characters across the first four installments: Constance Langdon in Season 1 (Murder House), Sister Jude Martin in Season 2 (Asylum), Fiona Goode in Season 3 (Coven), and Elsa Mars in Season 4 (Freak Show).

Ariana Grande Joins the Franchise

Ariana Grande joins the series as a new cast member, representing her first television acting role since her appearance in the 2015 series Scream Queens.

Grande’s casting reunites her with creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. This project follows her recent cinematic work as Glinda in the 2024 film adaptation of Wicked and the upcoming sequel Wicked For Good.

The inclusion of Grande also creates a reunion with former Scream Queens co-stars Emma Roberts and Billie Lourd, both of whom are also part of the Season 13 cast.

Production and Release Details

The 13th season of American Horror Story is scheduled for release on October 31, 2026. As of April 6, 2026, a formal title for the season has not been announced.

The upcoming installment follows the conclusion of Season 12, titled Delicate, which featured a cast including Kim Kardashian, Matt Czuchry, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, and Cara Delevingne.
