JetBlue Unveils New Airbus A220 Livery: “Taming of the Blue” with Violet Accents
JetBlue Unveils New A220 Livery
JetBlue Airways (B6) has announced a new aircraft livery for its Airbus A220, registered as N3241J and named Taming of the Blue. This livery features violet accents, providing a fresh look for the airline.
New A220 Features
The Airbus A220 focuses on passenger comfort and efficiency. It includes:
- Wider seats and larger windows.
- Spacious overhead bins and redesigned restrooms.
- A 2×3 seating arrangement to minimize middle seats.
- Sustainable vegan leather and the most legroom in coach.
- Custom mood lighting that changes throughout the day.
Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines, the A220 operates more quietly and is more fuel-efficient compared to older aircraft models. It can travel up to 3,300 nautical miles and carries 140 passengers across 28 rows, including six rows for Even More Space seating. The aircraft also includes multiple charging options and enhanced inflight entertainment.
Growth in Europe
JetBlue plans to return to two European routes for summer 2025, to Dublin (DUB) and Edinburgh (EDI). The airline has adjusted its winter strategy, reducing flights to London Gatwick and Paris but reallocating its Mint-equipped Airbus aircraft to busier leisure destinations. Executives have hinted at adding a new European destination in 2024.
Northeast Alliance Talks
JetBlue and American Airlines (AA) are discussing new collaboration options in the Northeast U.S. This comes after a court ruling against their Northeast Alliance. Both sides expressed interest in revising their partnership to bolster competitiveness against Delta and United Airlines. JetBlue has chosen not to appeal the court’s decision.
Together, these developments highlight JetBlue’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its fleet and expanding its international reach while navigating the challenges in the aviation industry.
