Jett Thomalla Commits to Alabama Football
Alabama Crimson Tide Land QB Jett Thomalla, filling Key Role for 2026 Class
Updated June 18, 2025
Alabama has secured a commitment from three-star quarterback Jett Thomalla, an Omaha, Neb., native, for its 2026 recruiting class. Thomalla, ranked as the No. 18 quarterback prospect by ESPN, flipped his pledge from Iowa State to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday.
Thomalla’s decision concludes Alabama’s search for a quarterback in the 2026 cycle. He initially committed to Iowa State in April but reconsidered after receiving a scholarship offer from Alabama in May. A visit to tuscaloosa sealed the deal, where he was impressed by the quarterback development expertise of head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Thomalla led Millard South High school to a 12-1 record and a Class A state title in 2024. He set Nebraska state classification records with 3,663 passing yards and 47 touchdowns.
“My dream is to go to the NFL,” Thomalla told ESPN. “The resources around the place and all the eyes that are on you, I know I can develop there. Those coaches can be really good for my process of becoming the best quarterback I can be.”
Thomalla is the eighth member of DeBoer’s second recruiting class at Alabama. The class includes four ESPN 300 pledges, including cornerbacks Jorden Edmonds and Zyan Gibson, and offensive tackle Sam Utu.
Alabama is set to host several high-profile prospects this weekend for official visits before the recruiting dead period begins Monday. In-state targets Anthony Jones, Ezavier Crowell, and Cederian Morgan are among those expected to visit as the program aims to strengthen its 2026 class. The addition of Thomalla plays a significant role in those efforts.
What’s next
With Thomalla on board, Alabama will focus on solidifying its 2026 recruiting class during the upcoming official visits, aiming to add more top prospects to its roster.
