Rabbi Zvi Kogan Found Dead in Dubai
Rabbi Zvi Kogan, a Jewish imam from Israel-Moldova, has been found dead in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He went missing on Thursday and was discovered murdered on Sunday morning in Al Ain, a city near the Oman border.
Israeli authorities suspect that Iran is behind Kogan’s death. However, Iran denies any involvement in the matter. The Israeli government described the incident as a “brutal antisemitic terror act.” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel would seek justice against those responsible for Kogan’s death.
Kogan had been missing since Thursday, leading Israeli intelligence agency Mossad to launch an investigation. He worked for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and was a representative of the Chabad movement, a conservative Orthodox Jewish sect.
The Chabad Lubavitch movement reported that Kogan was last seen in a kosher grocery store in Dubai.
