A ‘Love Story’ Revisited: New Series Explores JFK Jr. And Carolyn Bessette’s Romance

February 12, 2026 – A new limited series, “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette,” debuted today with three episodes on FX and Hulu, chronicling the highly publicized courtship, marriage, and tragic deaths of John F. Kennedy Jr. And his wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.

The nine-part series aims to capture the essence of a relationship that captivated the nation, but not without some controversy. According to reports, Kennedy’s nephew, Jack Schlossberg, voiced concerns last summer regarding the project.

The fascination with the couple, according to Paul Anthony Kelly, who portrays John Jr. In the series, “continues decades later because it’s unfinished, unfortunately.” This sense of an incomplete narrative contributes to the enduring public interest in their lives.

John F. Kennedy Jr., born November 25, 1960, carried a unique weight of expectation from a young age. Iconic images of his childhood – playing under his father’s desk in the Oval Office and, poignantly, saluting his father’s casket on his third birthday – are deeply ingrained in the national memory. These early moments helped shape the public’s perception of him.

As he grew into adulthood, Kennedy continued to attract attention. Photographs of him biking through New York City and jogging in Central Park further cemented his image as a charismatic and athletic figure. In 1988, People magazine famously named him “Sexiest Man Alive,” a testament to his striking looks, inherited from both his father and mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Connor Hines, the creator of “Love Story,” explained that there was “a sense of ownership” the public felt toward Kennedy. “And so there was going to be tremendous pressure and expectations on whoever it was that he chose to marry because people felt so strongly about him, they felt so strongly about the family, there was so much reverence for them,” he reportedly said.

The series’ arrival has prompted a renewed look at the couple’s relationship, including a deeper examination of their marriage. A recent report highlighted that the series explores the complexities of their romance, suggesting it was not without its challenges.

The premiere of “Love Story” comes after a first look was offered on YouTube two days prior, providing a glimpse behind the scenes of the production. The series is scheduled to release one episode each week following the initial three-episode launch.

Another program, ‘John and Carolyn | Love, Beauty and Loss’ is scheduled to air on Tuesday, February 17th on ABC.

Sarah Pidgeon, who stars in the series, acknowledged the scrutiny surrounding the project, stating that the production team took great care and respect in telling the story, while also affirming her support for those, like Jack Schlossberg, who have expressed their concerns.
