Taiwan Loses to Japan in World Top 12 Baseball Tournament
On November 16, 2024, Taiwan’s baseball team faced Japan in the World Top 12 Baseball Tournament at the Taipei Arena. Despite a strong performance from the relief pitchers, Taiwan lost the game.
Taiwan’s starting pitcher, Chen Baiqing, played for 3.1 innings, allowing three runs and taking the loss. However, following him, the five relief pitchers did not allow any more runs. The relief pitchers included Huang Nci (1.1 innings), Wang Zhixuan (0.1 innings), Jiang Guohao (2.2 innings), Zhuang Jinyan (1 inning), and Chen Guanwei (0.1 innings).
Jiang Guohao took the mound in the 6th inning. He recorded one hit and two walks, managing to keep the score steady despite the pressure. After the game, he shared that although he was nervous, he felt more comfortable as the game progressed.
Pitching coach Lin Yuping provided encouragement during a timeout, helping Jiang Guohao build his confidence. Teammate Dai Peifeng also contributed to the game as a substitute, and they worked well together on the field.
