Legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross is preparing for surgery to treat colon cancer. Ross, known as JR to fans, shared an update on his health during a recent episode of his podcast, Grillin’ JR. He revealed that the cancer is located in two areas and that he is scheduled for surgery Tuesday morning.
Despite the challenges ahead, ross remains optimistic. he said he has been preparing himself mentally and physically for the procedure. Doctors anticipate a six-day hospital stay. Ross also noted that he is not currently experiencing any pain.
While he plans to slow down his schedule post-surgery, Ross is confident he can still contribute to all Elite Wrestling (AEW). He hopes to continue working AEW pay-per-view events. The wrestling icon also expressed gratitude for the support he has received from friends and colleagues, including Tony Khan and Steve Austin.
“I was at home and I got a call from Steve Austin… They call you, they talk to you, and at the end of the conversation, they tell you they love you. That’s what Steve did. So that’s what I got. And that cheered me up.”
