Jim Vinick Remembered for Community role and Hall of Fame Passion

Jim Vinick, most recently managing director of Investments for Moors & Cabot, recently passed away, leaving behind a legacy of getting things done. Friends and colleagues remember his dedication, whether it was to the naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame or a statue for the Jimmy Fund’s namesake.
Vinick’s commitment extended beyond simply completing tasks; he ensured they were done correctly. His dedication to the basketball Hall of Fame was a lifelong passion. He also played a key community role through various organizations.
John Doleva, president and CEO of the Hall of Fame, noted Vinick’s impact. He said that Vinick’s “heart was pure,” despite a sometimes gruff exterior.
Vinick’s early involvement included working with his family to establish the original Basketball Hall of Fame on the campus of Springfield College. Doleva added that Vinick served as the longtime finance committee chair and treasurer, guiding the Hall’s economic growth. He was “the bedrock of the current Hall,” doleva said.
Vinick also hosted “The Vinick Report” on Channel 40, focusing on financial literacy. additionally,he contributed to community institutions such as Jewish Geriatric Services,Temple Beth El,and the Willie Ross School for the Deaf. He also organized the Jeffrey Vinick Memorial Golf Tournament in memory of his son.
BusinessWest recognized Vinick as a Difference Maker in 2013 for his contributions to the region.
