Des Moines, Iowa — Miguel Angel Jimenez triumphed at the Principal Charity Classic on Sunday, securing his third PGA Tour Champions victory of the year. The Spanish golfer defeated Soren Kjeldsen and Cameron Percy in a playoff at Wakonda Club.
The 61-year-old Jimenez closed with a 2-under 70, highlighted by a birdie on the final regulation hole. He then birdied the first playoff hole to seal the win. Jimenez maintained the lead throughout the tournament, following an initial 63 and 66.
This victory marks Jimenez’s 16th career PGA Tour Champions title. Earlier this year, he won the Trophy Hassan II in Morocco and the Hoag Classic in Newport Beach, California.
Kjeldsen’s final round of 63 and Percy’s 67 placed them alongside Jimenez at 17-under 199. Kevin Sutherland finished just one stroke behind after shooting a 68.
