houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested early Thursday in Montgomery County, Texas, on a felony assault charge. the arrest, related to alleged family violence, occured at 5:38 a.m.,according to the Montgomery County Jail website. Ward remains in custody while awaiting bail.
The Houston Texans acknowledged the incident. “We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward,” said Omar Majzoub, the team’s senior director of communications. “We are gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.” The NFL also released a statement saying they are aware of the matter and in contact with the team.
Details from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office indicate deputies responded to ward’s home following a call from the complainant, whose name has not been released. The complainant alleges that Ward assaulted,strangled,and threatened her,leading to an emergency protective order.
Ward, 33, joined the Texans this year on a two-year, $13 million contract after nine seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. His move reunited him with texans coach DeMeco Ryans, with whom he previously worked in San Francisco. The Texans gave Ward a one-year extension in August of 2024. He carries a cap hit of $5,669,118.
