Jimmy Kimmel criticized Fox News on Wednesday, accusing the network of spreading “misinformation” concerning President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy the military to Los Angeles amid ongoing protests. Kimmel, who films his show in Los Angeles, challenged the portrayal of the city as a chaotic war zone.
“There’s been so much misinformation, so much cherrypicking, when it comes to what they show on TV,” Kimmel said. “I mean, if you turn on Fox News, you’d think LA was getting invaded by more aliens than the movie ‘Mars Attacks.’ They are working so hard to make this seem like a lawless battleground.”
Addressing his studio audience, Kimmel asked if they perceived Los Angeles as a “lawless battleground,” receiving a unanimous “no” in response. He noted that people from other parts of the contry had been texting him to inquire about his safety.
Kimmel stated, “Yeah, we’re OK. The only problem we have is this lunatic,” referring to Trump.“He’s acting like we’re burning the city to the ground.”
To provide context, Kimmel displayed a map of Los Angeles County, highlighting the relatively small area where protests were occurring. He likened the situation to “having a mosquito bite on your body.”
