Hello, my loved ones! Today we’re taking ourselves to the magical world of elves – and how could it be otherwise: I’m taking my Cricut Maker 3 with me! These sweet Christmas helpers not only bring presents, but also provide lots of surprises and practical jokes. The tradition of Secret Santa doors has become a huge DIY trend and the design possibilities are endless. Today I will show you how I managed to implement my ideas for a colorful gnome door and a whole little gnome universe. Have fun imitating and gather inspiration!

The door is the absolute star and centerpiece of all Secret Santa decorations. Our little elf, whose funny name is “Hupsu” (Finnish for “silly”), has created a colorful door. The highlight: a small window that is made to shine thanks to a small series of lights. For this I had the Cricut lime wood cut with my Cricut Maker 3 – what material goes better with a door? All information and complete instructions can be found in the video.

What I used for my gnome door with a glowing window:

When cutting wood, I always recommend using the original basswood from Cricut and really wait for all the passes. If necessary, you can use a scalpel to help trigger the trigger in certain areas. I have prepared projects in Design Space for all your ideas today:

Secret Santa Hupsu is of course a creative guy and so obviously needs his own Cricut Maker 3! With heavy duty chipboard and some paint you can create a mini Cricut Maker – perfect for a creative gnome! Didn’t that turn out incredibly cute?

What I used for the Mini Cricut:

I got the Mini Cricut cut from Heavy Chipboard – the material is very thick and very stable. This means the Mini Cricut can be ideally layered and glued together from bottom to top. Here is the project:

Of course, Hupsu also needs a place to work – a creative craft table for her Cricut! So I designed a small table and bench. I have the whole thing cut out of lime wood again because the material fits the project perfectly.

What I used for the bench and table:

First I had the various parts for the bench and table cut out of wood. Remember that the manufacturer needs a lot of time to go through all the rounds. I glued the individual parts together with hot glue and then I created cute cushions with the felt squares and small iron-on motifs.

What would an elf be without the right clothes? Hupsu not only gets a set of elf clothes, but also individual motifs made from Iron-On foil. The clothes can then be hung on a string with small clothespins like on a clothesline (hint: press a little on the back, eg with play dough, so they don’t twist upwards).

Finally, a small gnome Christmas tree should not be missing. This DIY Christmas tree is very easy to make – it consists of felt snowflakes and beads which are placed alternately on pipe cleaner wire. As an alternative to felt, you can also use cardboard, foam rubber or other materials. The tree is great as a decoration on its own, even without a gnome door!

You know I’m a huge Cricut fan! With the Cricut Maker 3, all these projects can be executed in so many different ways – whether it’s wood, felt, paper or Iron-On foil, the machine can handle any material and offers endless design possibilities. If you don’t know Cricut yet: The intelligent cutting machines are ideal for creative DIY lovers.
