Amina Mutesi, a senior education officer in Jinja City, Uganda, has been arrested in connection with the ritual sacrifice of 26-year-old Jessica Mutesi. The alleged murder occurred in April in Bukaya, Njeru municipality, Buikwe District. The Kiira Regional Police are investigating the case, which has sparked outrage in the Busoga region.
Police reports indicate Amina Mutesi allegedly offered 3 million Ugandan shillings to a worker to find a person for ritual sacrifice. The worker and an accomplice lured Jessica Mutesi from Masese to Amina’s home with the promise of domestic work. Jessica was allegedly strangled and buried on the property.
Jessica’s family reported her missing, prompting a police inquiry. Suspects confessed but argued over the promised payment, of which they claimed to have received only 500,000 shillings. Jessica’s body was found buried in a coffee plantation on Amina’s property.
