Joaquín Niemann Wins LIV golf Virginia in Close Finish

GAINESVILLE, Va. — Joaquín Niemann of Chile secured his fourth LIV Golf victory of the season at LIV Golf Virginia on Sunday. Niemann’s final round of 8-under 63 propelled him to a one-stroke victory over Graeme McDowell and anirban Lahiri at the Robert trent Jones Golf Club.his total score was 15-under 198.
Niemann surged ahead with a series of birdies on Nos. 14-17, maintaining his lead with a par on the 18th. This win adds to his victories this year in Australia, Singapore, and Mexico. The 26-year-old now boasts six career LIV victories, along with his two PGA Tour wins.
“Pretty cool to be in this place, in this position right now,” Niemann said, expressing his gratitude.
McDowell carded a 66, while Lahiri, who led after the second round, finished with a 68.
Bryson DeChambeau, preparing to defend his U.S. Open title at Oakmont, shot a 65, tying for fourth place with Phil mickelson and Bubba Watson at 13 under.Mickelson also shot 65,and Watson finished with a 67.
Jon Rahm ended the tournament at 10 under after a final round of 68.
DeChambeau and Lahiri led their team, the Crushers, to their second consecutive team title and their eighth overall.Paul Casey and Charles Howell III completed the winning team.
“We’re a beast of a team,” DeChambeau said.
Mickelson highlighted his round with a remarkable backward chip-in for birdie from heavy rough near the green.
“One of my better ones,” Mickelson said.
DeChambeau praised the shot, saying, “Vintage Phil. Got to be one of the greatest shots I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”
