Join us for a special evening commemorating the life and work of Joe Stork,a co-founder and long-time editor,who passed away last year. The event will be held on November 22nd from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at busboys and Poets, located at 450 K Street in Washington, DC.
An Evening of Remembrance and Reflection
This gathering offers an opportunity to share memories and celebrate Joe Stork’s significant contributions alongside his friends and colleagues. The evening will be masterfully guided by joost Hiltermann and will feature insightful reflections from prominent Middle East scholars and frequent contributors to MERIP, including Aslı Bâli, Joel Beinin, Zachary Lockman, Sarah Leah Whitson, Lisa Hajjar, and Rick Reinhard.Musical accompaniment will be provided by Frank Haltiwanger, a friend and collaborator of Joe’s.
Conveniently Timed for MESA Attendees
The event is intentionally scheduled to coincide with the Middle East studies Association’s (MESA) annual meeting, welcoming scholars and attendees from across the country and beyond. This provides a valuable opportunity for the academic community to come together in remembrance.
