Joel McHale Joins Yellowjackets: Behind the Scenes at Vulture Festival 2024
During Vulture Festival 2024, the writers of Yellowjackets, Ashley Lyle, Jonathan Lisco, and Ameni Rozsa, shared a fun story about actor Joel McHale. Lyle met McHale at a Built to Spill concert at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Her friends were surprised to see him and said, “That man is not as old as Joel McHale, because he looks incredible.” After a few drinks, Lyle approached him at the merch table and confirmed his identity. McHale humorously claimed to be “the world’s best paid Joel McHale impersonator.”
Lyle discovered that McHale is a fan of Yellowjackets. He even bought merch for everyone, which she found delightful. Later, when the production team contacted him, he thought they were joking due to her drunken state. Lyle assured him, “No, we really wanted you on the show.”
Although they couldn’t disclose details about his character, fans can expect McHale to bring his signature sarcasm and style, reminiscent of his previous roles in Community, Animal Control, and The Bear.
