November 20, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Business

Joel Waterman enjoys living in Montréal and has committed to staying with CF Montréal. The club announced that he signed a long-term contract extension for the 2025, 2026, and 2027 seasons, with an option for 2028. This new deal reflects his important role within the team.

Waterman expressed gratitude for the trust the club has shown him. CF Montréal President and CEO Gabriel Gervais praised Waterman’s growth as a leader and player, noting his contributions to the team’s goals.

In 2024, Waterman played 30 matches across all competitions, aiding the team in reaching the MLS Cup Playoffs. He also achieved 100 games and 100 starts in MLS this season. Most of his missed matches were due to his involvement in Copa América, where he supported the team despite not playing.

Since joining the national team under coach Jesse Marsch, Waterman has increased his Canada caps from three to six. He participated in friendly matches and the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-finals.
