John Abraham Confirms Rakesh Maria Biopic, ‘Munkeeman’ Film Project

Actor John Abraham has confirmed his involvement in the Rakesh Maria biopic and revealed details about his upcoming film, Munkeeman. The announcements came during the launch of ‘Lakadbaggha: The Prologue,’ a graphic novel by Anshuman Jha, based on his film Lakadbaggha.

Abraham, sporting a new mustache, confirmed that his look was indeed for the Rakesh Maria biopic, directed by Rohit Shetty. He kept details brief, only saying that the experience of filming was “very good.”
In addition to the biopic, Abraham is also working on Munkeeman with Abhishek Sharma, who directed Parmanu. The film is based on Sharma’s comic book, which draws inspiration from the Monkey Man incident that occurred in Delhi in 2001.
The graphic novel Lakadbaggha: The Prologue is written by Anshuman Jha and illustrated by Brittain Peck. Ridhi Dogra, who also starred in the film Lakadbaggha, attended the launch event.
“Very interestingly, my director has written a comic book called ‘Munkeeman’. We are making a film on it now… The name of the director is Abhishek Sharma… The subject matter is something very interesting. I love animals and that’s why we are doing that movie,” Abraham said.
The synopsis of the Munkeeman book describes the protagonist as ”India’s own authentic superhero,” who emerged during the summer of 2001, creating panic in Delhi before disappearing. Sharma’s previous directorial credits include Tere Bin Laden and Ram Setu.
