in 2014, during the Sanford International tournament in Sioux City, South Dakota, John Daly experienced a particularly tough round while competing on the PGA Tour Champions. The round was highlighted by a disastrous 16th hole where Daly carded a 12, resulting from multiple errant shots into the water, a shanked 7-iron, and requiring three chips to reach the green.
Daly’s Struggles with the Yips

Daly has openly discussed his struggles with the yips throughout his career, and this particular incident became a notable exmaple of its impact on his game.
Cabrera’s Dominant Performance
In stark contrast to Daly’s struggles, Ángel Cabrera delivered an exceptional performance, shooting a 64 and taking the lead in the tournament. Notably, this impressive round coincided with Cabrera’s 56th birthday, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Cabrera finished the day 24 shots ahead of daly, demonstrating the wide range of skill levels present on the PGA Tour Champions.
