The season finale of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney on Netflix featured a unique blend of comedy and music, highlighted by an appearance from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. The show, which had a “teen night” theme, also included adam Sandler and Sean Penn.
Mulaney, who nearly fell victim to a scam while trying to book Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, brought the group on stage to perform their 1996 hit, Tha Crossroads. He joked that the song was a popular choice for junior high dances during the Clinton era.
Earlier in the show, Mulaney participated in a skit where he was comically beaten up by three 14-year-old boys. Sandler reminisced about being kicked out of bands as a teen, while Penn shared a story about throwing a Molotov cocktail at a rival surfer’s van. Joe Mande also appeared, discussing his teenage experiences with diarrhea. Sixteen-year-old Zephyrine Lucan, a babysitter for one of the show’s writers, joined the cast as well.
Sleater-Kinney, with Fred Armisen on drums, performed a cover of Kim Wilde’s “Kids In America.”
“Teens rule, they are the only people who have no money that I want approval from,” Mulaney quipped about the show’s theme.
