JOHN SMEDLEY releases a knitwear brush in collaboration with the long-established British manufacturer GBKENT │ QUI – Fashion & Culture media

JOHN SMEDLEY releases a knitwear brush in collaboration with the long-established British manufacturer GBKENT │ QUI – Fashion & Culture media

August 30, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor News

This is the first time that the company, which has a 240-year history, has sold its own original knitwear and clothing brushes, and it was made possible through joint development and production with GBKENT, a long-established brush and comb manufacturer also based in the UK and founded in 1777.

The brush handle is a classic reddish brown color and is made of sapele, a type of mahogany. The grain of the wood varies from piece to piece, proving that it is made from natural materials. The bristles on the brush are different from those on GBKENT’s regular clothes brushes, and are made of extra-fine pure bristles. These are the same bristles used in baby hairbrushes, and the tips of the bristles are also processed to be thin, with the upper bristles combed to make them slightly uneven, making them suitable for use on delicate materials.

This brush can remove dirt and dust from even the most delicate high-gauge knits without damaging the fibers, and can smooth out the knitted fabric. The shape of the brush is the same as GBKENT’s long-selling hair brush, and it has a slim design that is easy to carry. The JOHN SMEDLEY logo is engraved on the surface of the brush, and the GBKENT logo is engraved on the handle.

The method of use is the same whether the knitted material is merino wool or Sea Island cotton, just brush lightly from top to bottom along the grain of the fabric without applying force. As a result, the knitted material, which contains air, retains its original softness, and the tangled fibers on the surface of the fabric are loosened, making it less likely to pill.

This brush can be used not only for knitwear, but also for woven fabrics such as cashmere and wool, and by taking care of your clothes you can keep them in good condition for a long time. Made from natural materials, this brush is sturdy and has no unnecessary parts, and becomes more comfortable with use, giving you hints for a richer life through caring for your favorite clothes.
