Kirstie Alley on John Travolta: ‘Greatest Love’ and On-Set Feelings
The late Kirstie alley, known for her role in the “Look who’s Talking” franchise, frequently discussed her deep affection for John travolta, revealing that their connection went beyond a simple working relationship. Despite never becoming romantically involved,Alley confessed that she initially desired more.
alley, who passed away at 71, openly shared her feelings for Travolta, describing him as the “greatest love” of her life. During a 2018 appearance on “Celebrity Big Brother U.K.,” Alley spoke about the ease of developing feelings for leading men, naming Travolta and Patrick swayze as co-stars she felt drawn to.
“I almost ran off and married John. I did love him,I still love him,” Alley said. “If I hadn’t been married I would’ve gone and married him and I would’ve been in an airplane as he has his [own plane.]”
In another interview, Alley admitted that not pursuing a relationship with Travolta was “the hardest decision I’ve ever made as I was madly in love with him.” She emphasized the importance of not cheating on her then-husband, actor Parker Stevenson, whom she divorced in 1997.
Alley told Howard Stern in 2013 that Travolta reciprocated her feelings but respected her marriage. She acknowledged it took her years to see Travolta as just a friend.
“It took me years to not look at John as a romantic interest,” she said.
According to Alley,Kelly Preston addressed the situation directly. Alley said Preston once asked her, “Why are you flirting with my husband?” This prompted Alley to end any flirtatious behavior.
Travolta honored Alley on social media, calling their relationship “one of the most special” in his life. “I love you Kirstie,” he wrote. “I know we will see each other again.”
