Communications Department

The Communications Department (COM) aims to build trust among stakeholders by showcasing how AIIB empowers communities through infrastructure projects. The department crafts the bank’s narrative through various communications including official documents, storytelling campaigns, and internal and external messaging.

Position: Speechwriter

The Speechwriter plays a vital role in creating speeches, talking points, and other communications for senior AIIB figures. This position is essential for establishing the bank’s first Speaker’s Bureau and reports to the Communications Department. A strong grasp of international affairs and the ability to communicate the bank’s mission and achievements is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality speeches and materials that align with AIIB’s objectives.
  • Manage the Speaker’s Bureau and organize external speaking opportunities.
  • Research topics on infrastructure finance and sustainability to inform content.
  • Advise senior leadership on messaging and public speaking strategies.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure consistent communication.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders for speaking engagements.
  • Provide coaching to internal experts on public speaking.
  • Oversee the execution of the Speaker’s Bureau, including timelines and metrics.
  • Ensure timely delivery of communications with high standards.
  • Adapt writing styles for various audiences and occasions.
  • Evaluate and improve the Speaker’s Bureau’s effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or related fields; or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience in writing high-quality materials, including speeches, in English.
  • Knowledge of international issues and AIIB’s work is preferred.
  • Experience with international organizations is beneficial.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
