Join the Movement: ’12 Days of Action for Peace’ Unites Bosnia and Herzegovina with the United Nations in a Powerful Call to Action

United Nations Launches “12 Days of Action for Peace”‍ Campaign ⁣in Bosnia and‌ Herzegovina

The United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in collaboration with‌ the Ministry of Foreign ⁣Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is⁤ launching ⁢the “12 Days of Action for Peace” campaign to promote peace and strengthen social cohesion in the ‍country.

This initiative, established in 2019, aims to‍ foster unity and dialogue, creating an environment that promotes peace and cooperation. The campaign is marked ​through​ activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in ‍numerous diplomatic missions around⁤ the world, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ‌of Bosnia⁣ and Herzegovina.

Support from the UN Secretary ‍General’s ⁣Peace Building Fund

This year’s campaign is being implemented ⁤with‍ the support of the‍ UN Secretary General’s​ Peace‌ Building Fund (PBF), which plays a key role in fostering unity ⁢and dialogue. The‍ Bosnia and Herzegovina Peacebuilding Steering Committee oversees the work of the fund, chaired by Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin⁤ Konaković, and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in ⁢Bosnia⁣ and Herzegovina,⁤ Ingrid Macdonald.

Promoting European Values and Stability

Minister of Foreign​ Affairs Elmedin Konaković expressed⁣ his gratitude to the United Nations and international partners for‌ their continued ⁣support to strengthen the ⁢long-term stability and sustainability of Bosnia​ and Herzegovina. He⁣ emphasized that membership ‍in the European Union remains a strategic goal of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s foreign policy, and ‍achieving that goal requires a coordinated ⁤and‌ comprehensive approach.

Cultivating‌ a Culture of Peace

The⁤ International Day of Peace was established​ in 1981 by the United ‌Nations General ⁣Assembly. This year it is celebrated under the‌ theme “Cultivating a culture of peace” to coincide with the ⁤25th anniversary of the adoption of⁤ the Declaration and Program of Action on a Culture of Peace⁤ by the United Nations General Assembly.

Empowering Local Communities and ⁢Civil Society

During‍ the “12 Days of Action ⁢for Peace” campaign, the United‌ Nations will organize and‍ support a series of activities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing‌ on promoting the exceptional efforts‌ of local communities, civil society, women, and youth. The campaign will ⁢also promote 12 exceptional individuals from‌ all over Bosnia and Herzegovina ⁣who excelled in ⁢building peace, strengthening social cohesion and trust.

A Commitment ⁤to Peace

Resident ⁤Coordinator of the ⁢United⁢ Nations in Bosnia and​ Herzegovina Ingrid Macdonald referred to ⁤the message of the Secretary General of the⁤ United‌ Nations António‍ Guterres, saying that ​peace is⁣ the greatest ​reward for all humanity, and that ⁢the International Day of Peace reminds everyone that the answers lie in our hands. She emphasized that peace requires the active participation of all parts of society through dialogue and cooperation.
