Join the STOP-DWI Thanksgiving Campaign: Prevent Impaired Driving
DWI Awareness Campaign Announced for Thanksgiving
Oswego County STOP-DWI Coordinator David Hall has announced a campaign to raise awareness about impaired driving. The campaign will occur from Wednesday, Nov. 27, to Sunday, Dec. 1.
Thanksgiving marks the start of the busy winter holiday travel season. Hall noted that many people will be on the roads, increasing the risk of vehicle crashes.
The STOP-DWI Thanksgiving campaign aims to reduce drunk and impaired driving. This initiative is part of a larger effort by STOP-DWI New York and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. Similar campaigns occur around key holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Halloween, and St. Patrick’s Day.
Hall encourages everyone to plan for a sober ride. He suggests downloading the “Have a Plan” mobile app to find safe transportation. “Impaired driving is completely preventable. All it takes is a little planning,” he said.
