Jokowi Diploma Scandal: Roy Suryo Lawsuit Explained
Paiman Rahardjo Sues Roy Suryo and Associates Over Defamation Allegations
Former Deputy Minister Paiman Rahardjo has initiated legal action against Roy Suryo and six other individuals, citing defamation. The accusations, according to Paiman’s legal representative, Farhat, do not pertain to the controversial 7th Indonesian Presidential Diploma but rather target Paiman’s personal reputation.
Allegations Target Paiman’s Credibility
“The insult is not concerned with his diploma, Mr. Jokowi, but rather he (Paiman) is called a fake professor, a fake professor,” stated Farhat at the Central Jakarta District Court on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. “When it comes to Mr. Jokowi, it is even referred to as a typist and diploma maker at Pramuka Market.”
Paiman, who also holds the distinction of being a former Rector of Prof. Dr. Moestopo (religious), revealed that he had a direct conversation with President Joko widodo regarding the matter. during their meeting, both parties agreed that pursuing legal channels was the most prudent course of action to prevent further escalation of the situation.
Legal Action as a Means to De-escalate Tensions
“When meeting with Mr. Jokowi, he said that this issue must be resolved legally,” Paiman explained.”We are good workers, so we prefer to take legal action. We are worried that Jokowi’s volunteers, who will take almost 3 million, will take to the streets.”
Paiman believes that by formally reporting the alleged defamation, the public atmosphere will consequently become calmer. This legal recourse is seen as a measured approach to address the accusations and maintain public order.
