Sweden’s Olympic hockey team has lost a ‍key player ahead of the upcoming tournament. Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin⁣ will not​ participate due to a lower-body injury, confirmed by Wild head coach John Hynes.

Brodin, 32, was originally named to⁣ the Swedish roster on January 2nd. He has not played since January ⁤12th against the ​New ⁣Jersey Devils. This would have been his first Olympic appearance.

In 42 games this⁤ season, Brodin has recorded 15 points and maintains a +13‍ plus/minus rating.

Sweden is already dealing ⁢with injuries to several ​other ⁣players, including William Nylander, Joel Eriksson Ek, Gabriel Landskog, Victor ⁢Hedman, and Erik Karlsson.
