Swiss ski manufacturer Stöckli has announced a leadership change in its racing department, appointing Jörg Roten as the new head of racing effective for the 2026/2027 season. Roten succeeds Marc Gisin, who held the position for three years and will step down after the current season.

The appointment was confirmed by Stöckli in early March 2026, with the company stating that Roten will take over responsibility for the racing program as part of a planned management reorganization. Roten brings extensive experience as a World Cup-level coach, having worked with athletes including Daniel Albrecht, Carlo Janka, Henrik Kristoffersen, and most recently Wendy Holdener.

Roten, a 52-year-old native of Leukerbad in the canton of Valais, described the move to Stöckli as “a stroke of luck” in interviews following the announcement. He emphasized his motivation to transition from two decades of coaching into a leadership role where he could contribute to the team’s success from a different perspective.

During his tenure as head of racing, Marc Gisin worked closely with Stöckli’s star athlete Marco Odermatt, the five-time overall World Cup winner who has been associated with the company since 2010. Gisin reflected positively on their collaboration, calling it “a dream” to work with Odermatt and highlighting the Swiss skier’s professionalism and ability to separate personal and professional matters.

Stöckli’s management praised Gisin’s contributions during his three-year stint, noting his value as a former World Cup athlete who provided important insights to the racing team and company. Marc Gläser, CEO of Stöckli, stated that Gisin’s departure would be regretted but wished him success in his future endeavors.

The leadership transition comes as Stöckli continues to compete at the highest levels of international skiing, bolstered by its association with top-tier athletes like Odermatt and Holdener. Roten’s appointment signals the company’s intent to maintain stability and expertise in its racing operations moving into the next competitive season.
