Jorge Valdivia’s Preventive Detention to be Reviewed

Following an appeal presented by the defense of Jorge Valdivia, the Court of Appeal of Santiago will review the preventive detention of the former Chilean National Team soccer player on Monday, November 4 at 8:30 am. Valdivia is accused of alleged rape.

The appeal was submitted by Valdivia’s solicitor, Paula Vial, to the 8th Court of Guaranty of Santiago on Monday, October 28. The appeal will be heard by the 1st Chamber of the court of appeal under complete confidentiality, and a resolution is expected on the same day.

Valdivia’s Time in Prison

Since Tuesday, October 22, Jorge Valdivia has been serving the precautionary measure in Rancagua Prison. During his stay, he has received visits from his brother, Claudio Valdivia, and former teammates, Jean Beausejour and Rodrigo Millar.

As the days pass, new details about his stay in prison have been revealed. It is claimed that he has become closer to religion and has played several games, similar to Ronaldinho’s experience when he was imprisoned in Paraguay.

“Jorge has had a good relationship with those who are in the same sector here. He has played a couple of football games and has seemed calmer in recent days,” according to sources.

Additionally, it has been reported that those closely related to the evangelical religion have approached him to give him peace of mind and some messages, which has been beneficial to him pending this investigation.

In fact, the Wizard’s defense withdrew the request for the hearing intended to evaluate the defendant’s change of location.
