In a recent interview with Katie Couric, Reid reflected on her departure, suggesting the network felt uneasy about its coverage of Trump.
Reid, known for her sharp critiques of Trump’s policies and rhetoric, frequently enough shared her views on social media, a practice that initially “horrified” network executives. She noted that major news organizations typically have parameters around employees’ social media activity.
When Couric questioned the difference between Reid’s commentary and that of other liberal colleagues like Rachel Maddow, Reid responded that she felt her identity as “a Black woman doing the thing” was a key factor. She highlighted Trump’s history of targeting Black women journalists.
