Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is enjoying the fruits of victory after his team secured a Super Bowl win against the New England Patriots on February 8, 2026. The triumph, celebrated in the 49ers’ locker room, marks a significant turnaround for the Seahawks and several key individuals within the organization.

The victory is being framed as a vindication for General Manager John Schneider, who took a series of calculated risks following a 10-7 season. It also represents a remarkable comeback for quarterback Sam Darnold, previously considered by many to have stalled in his career. The win effectively erases what was previously considered the franchise’s most painful memory.

However, the celebrations were briefly overshadowed by an incident involving comedian Druski, who mispronounced Smith-Njigba’s name during an awards announcement. The receiver, known as JSN, responded to the slight with grace, offering to discuss the significance of his name in a viral video posted on social media on February 9, 2026. The video, shared by Robert Littal of BSO, quickly gained traction online.

Smith-Njigba’s performance in the Super Bowl itself was relatively quiet. Facing tight coverage from Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez, he recorded four receptions for 27 yards on ten targets. This was, however, a notable contrast to his dominant performance in the NFC Championship game against the Rams, which was described as the “real Super Bowl.” Only the Minnesota Vikings managed to contain JSN more effectively throughout the season.

Despite Smith-Njigba’s relatively subdued game, the Seahawks found success through other players. Cooper Kupp led the team with six catches for 61 yards, while tight end AJ Barner contributed four catches for 54 yards and the game’s only touchdown.

The Super Bowl win caps off a remarkable season for Smith-Njigba, who, according to reports, was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2025. He also secured a First-team All-Pro selection and two Pro Bowl appearances (2024 and 2025). In 2025, he led the league in receiving yards with 1,793, setting a new franchise record for the Seahawks. He also led the league in receptions with 119.

Smith-Njigba’s journey to this point has been marked by consistent achievement. While playing college football for Ohio State, he set school records for receptions in a single game (twice, with 15 receptions) and for receiving yards in a season (1,606 in 2021). He was drafted 20th overall by the Seahawks in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft and quickly established himself as a key player, earning his first Pro Bowl selection in his second season with 1,130 receiving yards.

The Super Bowl LX victory wasn’t without its challenges for the Seahawks. Smith-Njigba briefly left the game in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury, initially being evaluated for a concussion. He was seen entering the medical tent and later heading to the locker room for further assessment. He ultimately returned to the game in the fourth quarter, though his availability had been listed as questionable.

The team also dealt with other injury concerns during the game, with several players undergoing evaluation. The Seahawks’ depth at wide receiver, including players like Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed, Jake Bobo, and Dareke Young, proved crucial in navigating these challenges. The strong defensive performance and effective running game allowed Seattle to maintain a comfortable lead, even with key players briefly sidelined.

The win represents a high point for the Seahawks franchise, solidifying their position as a dominant force in the NFL. Smith-Njigba’s individual accolades and the team’s collective success signal a bright future for the organization, and the celebrations are likely to continue as the team returns home.
