juan Ayuso to Leave UAE Team Emirates, Lidl-Trek a Potential Destination
Juan Ayuso will be leaving UAE Team Emirates at the end of the season, the team has announced. The split comes due to “differences in the vision of progress plans and in the alignment with the team’s sporting philosophy.”
Ayuso expressed gratitude for the opportunities he received at UAE, stating, “I would like to thank the team for the support and opportunities they have given me over these years. I have had the chance to grow and to compete alongside the vrey best, and I know that what I have learned will always remain part of my professional background.I now feel it is time for me to take a different path, with the same enthusiasm and I wish UAE Team Emirates – XRG success for the future.”
Team CEO Mauro Gianetti echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of continuity and team harmony within their sporting project. He stated,”Juan has been a valuable talent and we are grateful for what we have built together… We believe that,in the best interests of both parties, this decision is the moast consistent with the values that define our organization.”
Ayuso joined UAE as a teenager in 2021 from Colpack and quickly established himself as a promising Grand Tour contender, finishing third and fourth at the Vuelta a España in his first two appearances. However, with Tadej Pogacar as the team’s clear leader, and the emergence of João Almeida and Isaac del Toro as strong GC options, Ayuso appears to have fallen down the team’s hierarchy.
He has faced both internal and external criticism, and is now rumoured to be a potential signing for Lidl-Trek.
