Juan del Val, a journalist and frequent collaborator on the television program el Hormiguero, was awarded the prestigious Planeta Prize on Wednesday for his novel exploring themes of love and disillusionment. The award recognizes his latest work,continuing a triumphant career that extends beyond journalism into writing and media production.
Del Val’s wife, Nuria Roca, is also a well-known figure in Spanish media, working as a radio and television presenter, collaborator, jury member, and scriptwriter.
A Quarter Century Together
Juan del Val and Nuria Roca have been married since 2000, celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary this year. The couple share three children: Juan, Pau, and Olivia.
Extensive Media Career
Juan del Val’s career in media began in 1992 at Radio Nacional de España. He has since held roles as a director, producer, screenwriter, and presenter across various platforms, including Antena 3, Telecinco, Onda Cero, and Melodía FM.
Beyond his work in radio and television, Del Val is an established author. He previously won the Spring Novel Award in 2019 for his book, Candela. His other published works include Delparaiso, The Inevitable of Love, and Seems Like a lie.
Recently, Del Val has appeared as a guest on The Anthill and served as a judge on Antena 3’s The Challenge.
